Questions Fresno owners ask us

I've got a remodel in mind for my Fresno house, but I'm not sure who to call first. Is a general contractor the right start?

For most projects that touch more than one trade, yes. A general contractor runs the framing, plumbing, electrical, sheetrock and finishes as one job, so you have one person to call. We start with a conversation and a walk through your home.

We're opening a small office in Fresno. Can the same company handle commercial work too?

Yes. Ben-Rick builds commercial new construction and tenant improvements, including office, retail and restaurant build-outs. The same team builds homes, so the process feels familiar either way.

How can I tell if a contractor is actually licensed in California?

Look them up on the CSLB website at cslb.ca.gov. Ben-Rick Construction Inc. holds California license #1030203, Class B General Building Contractor. The company is bonded and carries workers' comp through State Compensation Insurance Fund.

My project feels kinda small. Is there a minimum budget before you'll take it on?

Projects start around $5,000. If yours is close to that line, describe it to us and we'll tell you straight whether it fits.

I live in Clovis. Is that inside your service area?

It is. Ben-Rick works across Fresno County and Madera County, with Fresno, Clovis and Madera as the core cities. Rural and unincorporated communities in both counties are covered too.

Our house had a loss and the adjuster's already been out. Can a contractor help from here?

Yes. We prepare an itemized repair scope and estimate, coordinate with your adjuster and then rebuild. When the work is done, you get a final walkthrough.

Before anybody starts tearing out walls, what'll the estimate look like?

You get a written scope and estimate before work starts. It comes after we talk through the project and walk the site, so it's based on what we actually saw at your place.

Can one company build a custom home in the Fresno area from the ground up?

Ben-Rick builds custom homes and handles the trades that go into them. That runs from foundation and framing through plumbing, electrical, drywall, millwork and floor finishes. You work with one company the whole way.

I'm juggling a business project and a house project at the same time. Can you keep both straight?

Each project gets its own written scope and estimate. The process is the same for both: talk it through, walk the site, put it in writing, then build.
